The 1783 Chase directory lists only the 44
principal coaching houses; which is
little more than 10% of the total.
Of these only 4 are highlighted in capitals.

  * After the great upheaval of WWI, Kelly's
managed a very frequent publishing schedule.
Another long gap, equally to be expected,
occurred between 1941 and 1947.

Very sadly, Kelly's  discontinued  their
Norwich directories after 1975.
The  Norfolk  versions ceased even earlier
(1937) i.e. did not resume after WWII.

Important Note :

Nearly all the 'Norwich' Directories are
confined to the legal boundaries of the
former  County Borough.

From the mid-1920's onwards this becomes a
greater and greater misfortune, as the expansion
of dwellings and pubs  into the "suburbs" often goes un-recorded.
