All eight pubs lie either on or outside the
Outer Ring Road - (specifically Colman Road
and Mile End Road).

Three have a special function : to serve the
University Campus; while the remainder have
struggled to meet the needs of a very large number
of residents, spread over a very large area.
The University Arms was not, however, on
- or particularly near - the Campus!

 

Even then, the sparseness of provision is not so amazing
as that in the Southern area - i.e. everything East of the
Newmarket Road (A.11).

The present area lies to the NorthWest of the A.11,
stretching as far as the Earlham Road (B.1108)
