Oval : Dereham Road
Notes ..

Closed between May and November 1998
for a 410,000 pound re-furbishment.
Wizard Inns then renamed the pub.

Between Wizard Inns and Marston's (from 2005)
the pub was apparently owned by Pathfinder Pubs
of Wolverhampton and Dudley.

An E.E.N. report in early December 2010 notes that
half the pub is given over to restaurant seating
including big tables that are perfect for parties.

Only two ales are available, and the wine-list is 'average'.
Wednesday is Curry Night, and there is a Sunday quiz.

The car-park is in front of the pub; which also has
a large garden, ideal for kids - emphasising the
pub's family-orientated marketing.

Round Well : Dereham Road - Costessey

Notes ..

Crown Inn : 79 Norwich Road - Costessey
Notes ..

Adrian Hennessey's description in June 2003 was -
A two-bar pub : a plush lounge to the right of
the porch and an unspoilt public bar to the left.
There is a beer garden and bowling green at the rear
.

A photographic record can be found in :
Youngs & Crawshay : Coronation Souvenir (1937), page 1.

The photograph shows a rather fine mock-Elizabethan
building, similar to others of the late 1920s and
early 1930s - e.g. The Boundary and the Galley Hill.

Listed in the Woodforde's Pub Guide, June 2009.
Likewise in 2011.

The pub is host to the local Pigeon Racing Club,
an angling club, 2 football teams and
2 hockey teams. No 'proper' food is served.
