Eventually Courage arrived in February 1972.
It is not clear when they relinquished control.

From 1988 there were several rumours in the Press
about the (non)-continuation of the Redan as a pub.

However on 16th May 1989 Owen Mc Caffrey
succeeded his (mother?) Dorothy -
landlady since October 1982.

Derek W. E. Leonard of Reepham became landlord
in August 1993.
By 1997 he had become the last owner of the pub;
although he gave up the licence in April 1997.

Leonard appears to have closed the pub for some time,
before its short-lived re-opening from May 1997.

In desperation, in August 1998, a "use it or lose it"
notice appeared outside.
