Brazen Doors : group 10

. . . 4 pubs in this group . . . 1 still serving.

Meaning of symbols

Queen's Road, for our present purposes, goes no further
East than Finkelgate (Group 6); i.e. excludes
the section formerly called St. Catherine's Plain.
This truncated stretch was previously known as
Brazen Doors Road.
The Brazen Doors pub itself is (just) in Area  8.

Group 10 includes that part of Queen's Road running
East from the junction with All Saints' Green; which
area is now dominated by Norwich Union and
the Sainsbury's store.

The three pubs along what is now the Inner Ring Road
were sacrificed much earlier (c. 1880) for a major
re-development of terraced housing.
The O. S. Map of 1883 shows that the project was
only very partially accomplished by that date.
All the lost pubs must have backed onto the
remains of the City Wall.

Pubs in lower Surrey Street are in Area 8.
