City Centre : East of the Castle

Division 1 : Area 7

Cattle Hill : group 4

. . . 9 pubs in this group . . . 1 still serving.

Meaning of symbols

This street, properly called Cattle Market Street,
begins at the King Street/ Rose Lane junction,
and climbs the steep hill ("Cattle Hill") - going past
Rouen Road, on the left.

The lower stretch was previously called
Common Pump Street; and the higher stretch
Buff Coat Lane.

In those times, prior to the extension of the
Cattle Market  c. 1861, the street had two sides.

The creation of the Castle Mall has restored
the West side, but not entirely.

Listing
The pubs are listed from the top of the hill; except for the final 4 cases,
sacrificed for the Cattle Market, where the exact locations are not known.
