City Centre : Market and Mall

Division 1 : Area 6

City Hall : group 1

. . . 8 pubs in this group . . . none still serving.

Meaning of symbols

This group covers the area cleared for the building
of the City Hall (1932 to 1938); and also the
Fire Station (completed November 1934).
Significantly, there were major street widenings
on three sides of the City Hall.

This group only concerns itself with the widened
St. Peter's Street and part of Bethel Street;
St. Giles' Street being in Area 3.

See separate list of relevant photographs.

Also see Groups 4 & 5, for pubs cleared for the
simultaneous Market Place extensions.

Note re Bethel Street pubs
Pubs on the South side, plus other (unlocated)
Bethel Street pubs - in St. Peter Mancroft parish -
are found in (next) Group 2.

Pubs at the West end of the street
are in Area 3,   Group 14.

Listing
The pubs are listed starting from the Guildhall, going along
St. Peter's Street; turning right into Bethel Street (North).
