James Dunn was landlord of No. 2 Cock & Pie by 1839.
He was replaced as landlord by 1851.

As in several other cases, he seems to have opened up
a new pub - in competition for his former premises.

He chose the (then) sure-fire popular name of Queen's Head.

It began life as a humble beerhouse, but continued
(after 1854) in the main listings, until its refusal
of licence by the Magistrates in 1867.

Oddly, this is recorded under 'Tombland', rather than
the correct parish of St. Simon & St. Jude.
