City Centre : The West

Division 1 : Area 3

Charing Cross : group 1

. . . 6 pubs in this group . . . 1 still serving.

Meaning of symbols

This group covers that part of present-day
St. Andrew's Street which runs between :
the "fork" near St. Gregory's Church,
and the crossroads at Duke Street.

N.B. The ancient term "Charing Cross" does not,
however, refer to the said crossroads !

Photographs of the North side of Charing Cross,
taken looking towards the City, appear in
TEMPLE, C. : Clifford Temple Remembers, page 9
and Norwich - Archive Photo Series, page 100
(same author).

A 1956 photo, with a broader view, is on
page 41 of the former Temple book.

PLUNKETT, George :
Commemorative Collection,
page 84, has a partial view of the
North side (post-WWII), looking West.
