Pubs in green were kept, around that time, by person(s) giving their occupation as 'weaver'
The majority of this Parish lies within Area 5 (Cathedral) ; except for the
southernmost stretch i.e. beyond the later Prince of Wales Road.
In that direction lies Area 7 - East of the Castle.
There are ten cases in all, as listed under :-
Dolphen : 1763 only
Feathers : 1760 - 63.
Golden Pippin : 1760 only. Main occupation = cyder-maker.
Green Dragon : 1760 - 63.
Hoop : 1760, then Hoop & Grapes : 1763
This house is most probably the one whose inn-sign is described
by Arderon as the "Wheel and Bunch of Grapes".
Notably the main occupation is stated to be vintner.
King's Head : 1760 - 63 and noted again in 1776 :-
Norfolk Chronicle 3rd February 1776 :-
"A good public house to let, being the Kings Head, Tombland.
Enquire at Mr. Thomson's Brew House, near the Crown Inn, St. Stephens".
The pub was possibly in Upper King Street.
